J&J Worldwide Services Steam Sterilization Plant (SSP) Operator in Frederick, Maryland
Description
General Summary
Responsible for operating and monitoring steam sterilization equipment (autoclaves) to thoroughly clean, decontaminate, assemble, package, and sterilize medical instruments and supplies, ensuring their safe and hygienic use in a healthcare setting, while strictly adhering to established infection control protocols and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Observing and interpreting readings on gauges, meters and charts which register various aspects of the system's operation
Recording in logs various aspects of the system's operation
Keeping the machinery and equipment of the system in good operating order
Maintaining the system or systems.
Performs scheduled maintenance on a wide variety of equipment.
Performs routine investigation rounds wearing proper PPE and RPE, such as a PAPR.
Required to work weekends and holidays.
Other duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements
Two (2)-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to pass/clear an extensive Government required Background Investigation for clearance to the facility.
Site specific system training to be provided.
Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.
Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
